She Fell Like Sunshine

2023 – “Delicate Warrior” series (to the series)
50 x 60 x 1.5 cm
Acrylic on canvas

This painting shows a thistle as it stands in late summer – no longer fresh and plump, but dried up and yet full of history. The colors are different than usual for the series: olive green, beige, brown accents. No neon, no radiant pink. Everything feels earthier, more reserved – and that is precisely where its power lies.

While painting, I was listening to the song Sunshine by OneRepublic. The lyrics are about choosing the light, letting go of worries, not dwelling in negativity. But while I had these words in my ear, I also felt: there are times when we are allowed to stop pushing ourselves – even when it comes to the supposedly positive. We don’t always have to strive for more. Sometimes that’s exactly what dries us out.

The painting carries this tension: sun-ripened and dried out. Strength and exhaustion. The raw, unfinished quality was important to me – I deliberately stopped earlier, leaving the final layers unset. Because that’s exactly how this moment feels: standing still before it becomes too much.

Stop stressing.
You don’t have to finish everything.
Breathe. Just be. Take in life.

Art is more than a decorative picture on the wall.

Art is a luxury you’re allowed to treat yourself to, because it makes something resonate within you.
Art is individual—and the opposite of mass-produced goods and fast-moving fashion.
A work of art stays with you (and sometimes for generations) and becomes part of your life and all the stories within it.

My paintings are resources in which you can recognize yourself.
They are my personal engagement with the challenges and beauty of life.

I invite you to find your own resource in the depths of the layers and the richness of the colors—for strength, focus, or calm in your own life. And to give your home a truly personal touch with my art, and tell your own story through it.
