This painting came out of a moment when I didn’t feel any inspiration. A long day of painting was behind me, many works were finished—actually a fulfilling place to be. And yet emptiness came. Restlessness. Anger.

I reacted right away—with color, with speed. Glowing orange, wild gestural brushstrokes. I wanted to feel the fire smoldering beneath the surface when the mind is empty. And right there it was again: inspiration. Not as an idea, but as energy.

The next day I came back and continued the painting. Soft violet, heavy moss green. I didn’t put out the fire—but I grounded it.

This diptych was created impulsively, yet it carries a clear concept. It shows two poles: passion, anger, inner burning—and at the same time calm, tenderness, letting go.

Everything is always there. Even when it sometimes slips away. Even when we think we’ve lost it.

I painted this work in acrylic—because of the speed. And yet it shows depth and transitions that usually only oil allows.

Inspiration is with me—reminding us that our inner fire is not a contradiction to calm and wonder.
It’s the ground on which both can grow.

Everything is always within you.
Let go.
