When You Call on Me
2023 – Series “Soulsisters” (to the series)
100 x 100 x 3 cm
Acrylic and oil stick on canvas
Sometimes a quiet pull is enough.
A sense.
An impulse that reaches me through subtle waves.
And I know:
She needs me.
This painting tells of connection.
Of closeness that doesn’t impose itself, but is there—tangible, reliable, real. When my sister was hurt, we set off together. Hours later, we sat in her little Smart, on the way to Brittany, to our mother. It was a journey back to something familiar—and at the same time a path forward. A new connection began.
These layers resonate in the painting. The lines are delicate, the colors deep. A rich background carries an open, bright form—like a blossom that no longer questions whether it may reveal itself. It simply does.
And on the right edge: a patch of pure canvas. Raw, empty, unpainted. And yet complete. Because not everything needs to be filled. Sometimes what remains open is the most honest.
When You Call on Me is an echo of this closeness. It reminds us how finely tuned our senses can become to genuine connection—when we trust them. When we listen inward. And act.
The painting whispers:
Trust your intuition. It knows the way.
